Sun Line and Wealth Line Meaning

Where they are · Common forms · Special marks

The sun line and the wealth line are two minor lines on the outer side of the palm, and they are usually read together. The sun line, also called the Apollo or success line, is read for recognition, reputation and how visible your talent is. The wealth line is read for money sense, business instinct and where income comes from. Many palms show little of either, and that is perfectly normal.

Where to Find the Sun and Wealth Lines

The sun line is a vertical line rising toward the ring finger and ending on the Mount of Apollo at its base. It may start low in the palm, or appear only as a short stretch above the heart line.

The wealth line, as Chinese palmistry calls it, is one or more vertical lines under the little finger, on the Mount of Mercury. It overlaps with the Western Mercury line, a diagonal line rising from the lower palm toward the little finger, and some schools read the two together.

Both lines vary a lot from hand to hand. Check first whether they are there and how clear they are, then their length and number, and only then details such as breaks and islands.

Common Forms and Their Meanings

These are the traditional readings of common sun line and wealth line forms. One hand usually shows several of them; read them together.

Sun line clear and straightTalent that gets noticed; a good reputation
Sun line long, starting low in the palmFinds a strength early; reputation built over years
Sun line short, above the heart line onlyRecognition comes later in life and grows with time
Several parallel sun linesMany interests and talents; best to focus on one or two
Wealth line one clear lineGood with money; spots opportunities
Wealth line several fine linesIncome from more than one source
Wealth line brokenUps and downs in money; manage it steadily and keep a cushion
Wealth line reaching the little fingerSharp business instinct; a persuasive communicator

Neither line tells you how much money or fame you will have. They describe tendencies.

Special Marks

Small marks on these lines are traditionally read as changes or support during a period of life. They describe tendencies, not events that must happen.

Star at the end of the sun line

A star-shaped crossing at the top of the sun line: talent that is recognised and effort that produces a standout result.

Island

A small oval on either line: a period of pressure on reputation or finances. A sign to move carefully and steadily.

Break

A gap in the line: a change of direction or of income source. If the two ends overlap, the change tends to be smooth.

Branch joining the two lines

A short line linking the sun line and the wealth line: talent and money sense that support each other, so recognition brings practical rewards.

Cross line

A short line cutting across either line: a temporary obstacle or distraction, usually worked through with patience.

Both lines clear

A clear sun line and a clear wealth line together: visible talent and a good head for money, each strengthening the other.

Reading Both Lines, Missing Lines and Left vs Right

The two lines say more together. A clear sun line with a faint wealth line is often read as caring more about recognition or creative work than income. A clear wealth line with a faint sun line suggests someone practical and low-key who quietly builds a steady life.

Many hands have neither line, or only a faint trace. That is normal: it points to success built steadily rather than through fame or a lucky break, and it says nothing bad about career or money.

It is also common for the two hands to differ. The non-dominant hand is read for the gifts you were born with, the dominant hand for what you have made of them; comparing them shows how you have changed.

How These Lines Relate to Their Neighbours

The sun and wealth lines are fine lines that often branch off a main line or end at one. Where they start and stop says more than whether they are there at all.

Sun line and fate line

A sun line branching off the fate line is traditionally read as talent made visible through your career, with effort building a reputation. If the two climb side by side, career and recognition grow together. More in Fate Line Meaning.

Sun line, head line and heart line

A sun line rising from the head line suggests recognition earned through intellect and expertise. One that appears only above the heart line suggests success that grows from interests and goodwill, often showing more clearly from mid-life.

Wealth line, life line and head line

A slanting wealth line that starts near the life line is often read as money habits shaped by family; one that starts from the head line suggests income built on judgment and skill. More in Head Line Meaning.

How to See These Fine Lines

The sun and wealth lines are much fainter than the three main lines and easy to miss in dim light. Open your hand in daylight with the fingers gently together, then bend the palm back slightly; vertical lines show up more clearly.

Look for the sun line under the ring finger first, then the wealth line under the little finger. A single clear vertical stretch, even a short one, counts as having the line; the random fine creases across the palm do not need to be read one by one.

Both lines change easily with age and lifestyle, so a year or two later you may find a new section or a clearer line. Keeping a photo and comparing later is often more interesting than any single reading.

Questions

Does having no sun line mean I won't succeed?

No. Many palms have no sun line. It suggests success built steadily rather than through fame, and people without one do just as well.

Does having no wealth line mean no money?

No. A faint or missing wealth line is common and simply suggests a cautious approach to money rather than speculation. Income depends far more on your own choices.

How many wealth lines is best?

There is no best number. One clear line points to focused money management, several fine lines to more than one source of income. The count does not measure how much you earn.

Can the sun and wealth lines change?

Yes. Minor lines change more noticeably than the main ones, shifting with age, work and lifestyle, so a reading a few years later may look different.
