An old tradition

What Is Palm Reading?

Palm reading (shǒuxiàng) is the sister art of Chinese face reading. Classical texts such as the Mayi Xiangfa and the Liuzhuang Xiangfa read the shape of the hand and the lines of the palm side by side with the face.

Chinese palmistry first sorts the hand into one of the Five Elements — Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal or Water — from the shape of the palm and fingers. It then reads the three main lines, life, head and heart, together with the fate line and the raised mounts at the base of each finger.

Tradition says the non-dominant hand shows what you were born with, and the dominant hand shows what you are making of it. Lines also change over the years.

Classical palmistry reads the palm as a record of character, not a fixed fate.

Common questions

Palm Reading FAQ

Should I read my left or right hand?

Chinese tradition once read men’s left hands and women’s right. Today the dominant hand is usually read for what you make of your life, and the other hand reflects your innate nature. You can read both.

What makes a good palm photo?

Hold your open palm toward the camera in even daylight, with the whole hand and wrist in frame and the lines in focus. Avoid strong shadows and beauty filters.

Why are fewer lines marked than I have?

We only mark lines that can be seen clearly in your photo. A sharper photo in even light usually shows more.

Is my photo stored?

No. The photo is sent securely to our AI provider once to generate your reading, and we do not keep it.

Is palm reading accurate?

Palm reading is a cultural tradition, not a science. Treat the reading as a mirror for reflection and entertainment, not as a basis for major decisions.

Can I also read my face?

Yes. Face reading and palm reading are separate readings on this site; you can do both and compare.
